This course is the beginning food class that focuses on the science of food and nutrition. Experiences will include food safety and sanitation, culinary technology, food preparation and dietary analysis to develop a healthy lifestyle. Students will enjoy food lab experiences focusing on basic nutrients like carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and virtmain and minerals to strengthen comprehension of concepts and standards outlined in Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education. Training to obtain a Food Handler’s permit will be offered.
